The walnut shelling line is a complete production system designed to crush hard-shelled walnuts efficiently, separate the shell from the kernel, and grade the kernels by size.
Our walnut shelling production line features a customizable modular design to suit different production capacities, ranging from medium-scale processing (500 kg/hour) to large continuous production lines (single shelling unit up to 1-1.5 t/hour).
Highlight of the walnut shelling line
- This walnut shelling line employs an integrated shelling and kernel separation system, minimizing material transfer losses. The shelling section features an adjustable shelling gap and utilizes airflow and sieving for multi-stage kernel separation.
- By grading the walnuts before shelling and precisely matching the shelling gap, kernel integrity can reach 70% or higher, resulting in a lower kernel breakage rate compared to traditional single-machine processing.
- This walnut shelling production line supports a dual grading system, including grading by original walnut size (3-4 grades or more) and grading by kernel size after shelling (large/medium/small), allowing the final product to better meet the needs of different markets.
- Each machine on this walnut processing production line can operate independently yet seamlessly integrate into the entire line, enabling upgrades or expansion as production demands increase.

Working application of the walnut cracking and shelling machine
The walnut shelling line is suitable for processing hard-shelled walnuts, wild walnuts, macadamia nuts, and other hard nuts through shelling and grading. The final walnut kernels can be used in snack food processing, baking, confectionery making, and oil extraction.
This production line is suitable for walnut processing plants, agricultural cooperatives with walnut orchards, nut export companies, or large walnut farms, improving production profit rate through high-quality and efficient shelling.


Walnut shelling production line workflow
The following is the standard workflow for a 500 kg/hour walnut shelling line:
Step 1: Walnut raw materials are fed into the production line via an elevator. (The production rate can be controlled by adjusting the feed speed.)
Step 2: These walnut raw materials are graded into 3-4 size grades using a grading machine or drum grading machine. This step, processing materials of the same size together, improves kernel integrity and achieves a cleaner shelling result.
Step 3: The graded walnuts enter the walnut shelling machine. During this process, the internal shelling gap can be adjusted according to the walnut size to reduce kernel damage.
Step 4: After shelling, airflow separation, and a vibrating screen separate the shell from the kernel. Each size grade of walnuts has an independent airflow adjustment device to ensure optimal separation.
Step 5: The final sorting conveyor belt is for manual supervision to remove residual shell fragments and pick out substandard kernels. This helps improve the purity and market value of the final kernels.
Step 6: This step is to grade the walnut kernels by size to facilitate product quality differentiation, better grade, and sell them to increase profits.
Three solutions for walnut peeling
Option 1: Small-batch walnut shelling and separating line
This production line is primarily suitable for small and medium-sized processing enterprises. Its main equipment includes an elevator, a walnut shelling and grading integrated machine, a shell and kernel separator, and a sorting conveyor.
The main advantages of our walnut shelling line are a small footprint, easy installation, and operation. However, it requires a relatively large workforce, lacks grading, and results in inconsistent product quality, hindering profit maximization.

Option 2: Standard 500kg/h walnut shelling production line
This walnut shelling line includes a raw walnut elevator, a walnut grading machine, a new type of walnut shelling machine, a multi-stage shell and kernel separation system, a sorting conveyor belt, and a walnut kernel grading screen.
Its operation is more continuous, and the quality of the walnut kernels is stable and controllable. The initial investment cost is not very high, and the production line is easier to upgrade.

Option 3: Large-scale 1-1.5t/h walnut shelling line
This system includes a large-capacity elevator, a drum grading machine, multiple walnut shelling machines in parallel, a quantitative feeding hopper, a dual-frequency shell and kernel separator, a gravity destoner, a residue screening machine, and a final manual sorting conveyor.
